Leyton stabbing: London police launch murder investigation launched after man stabbed to death

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was fatally stabbed in Leyton, east London.

The man, believed to be in his mid-20s, was found with knife wounds in North Birbeck Road on Wednesday.

Police, paramedics and an air ambulance were called at about 4.26pm but the man died at the scene at 5.10pm.

Officers are in the process of informing his next of kin.

Police say no arrests have been made and a crime scene remains in place.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “A post-mortem examination will take place in due course. Formal identification awaits.

“Enquiries continue at the scene.

“The Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating and appealing for witnesses to come forward.”

The stabbing came on the same day a 17-year-old boy charged with the murder of Yousef Makki, also 17, appeared at Manchester youth court.

Yousef was stabbed to death in the Hale Barns area of Greater Manchester on Saturday.

A male suspect was also arrested in Leicester on Tuesday in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Jodie Chesney, who was stabbed to death in Harold Hill, Romford, east London, on Friday.
